"JAGUAR STAR"
the walled city

Chichen Itza is one of the most visited archeological sites in Mexico. The Mayan name "Chichen Itza", means "At the mouth of the well of the Itza". This site has four visible cenotes, being the "Cenote Sagrado" or Sacred Cenote the most famous. Researchers now believe that there is a hidden cenote under Kukulkan pyramid, but never been seen by archeologists.
The site's core covers an area of at least 1.9 sq mileage. Many fine stone buildings have been found in various states of preservation. Samples of it's amazing architecture are: El Caracol (or The Observatory), EL Juego de Pelota ( or Great Ball Court), Templo de los Guerreros (Warriors Temple), Templo de las Mil Columnas (Thousand Columns Temple), many of this structures been restored.
